Ernst Wasser – a pediatrician in exile
Thanks to a new contact with descendants of the pediatrician Dr. Ernst Wasser, we were able to fill in gaps in his biography and the history of his family and have thoroughly revised the article. We are also pleased about the extensive photo material which his granddaughter Ursula Welch has given us for publication.

New books
No One Knows Their Destiny by Tonia Eckfeld about her father Reinhold and her uncle Waldemar, both Dunera Boys. An expanded new edition of her father’s memoir Letzte Monate in Wien has been announced.

Anyone interested in the history of the internment should search the web for the non-fiction book The Internment of Aliens. Francois Lafitte published this first study on the subject in September 1940 in the wake of the reaction to the sinking of the Arandora Star.

We wish all dunera.de readers peace, health, happiness and creativity in 2025!

A tip for 2025
Visit the exhibition “Dunera: Stories of Internment”. The more than 200 works of art by numerous Dunera Boys are on display at the State Library of New South Wales, Sydney, until May 4. Online “Faces of Dunera” are presented. These pictures allow us to look into the faces of Dunera Boys. The organizers of the exhibition ask for help in identifying many of the men.
