Stolpersteine commemorate the Flieder family

On June 30, 2026, Stolpersteine were laid in Hanover in memory of the Flieder family.

Over time, more than 120 soldiers from the 8th Employment Company were promoted to non-commissioned officers.

In the fight against malaria, the Australian army undertook trials with volunteers. Among them were Dunera Boys and refugees.

The soldiers of the 8AEC remembered their commander, Captain Broughton, with great respect.

Starting in April 1942, the 8th Employment Company brought together more than 500 former internees who had been deported to Australia by the British.
