Over time, more than 120 soldiers from the 8th Employment Company were promoted to non-commissioned officers.

Starting in April 1942, the 8th Employment Company brought together more than 500 former internees who had been deported to Australia by the British.

Nine Dunera Boys fought in Normandy and on other fronts in No. 3 Troop No. 10 (Inter Allied) Commando.
